Evening Prayer

Order of Service

The light shines in the darkness; 
and the darkness has not overcome it.
Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.
The glory of God gives your city light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

As each day passes, the end of our lives becomes ever nearer, and our sins increase in number. You, Lord, our Creator, know how feeble we are, so in our weakness, strengthen us; when we suffer, uphold us, and we will glorify you, our Lord and God. Amen (Ephrem the Syrian)

In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that you would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
